Our server, Matthew, approached us with the drink menu and gave us a moment to look over the menu. We sat next to a wall of reclaimed barn wood with art hanging throughout. We were seated at a table for two in a small dark corner of a back room, away from the main crowd. But just do it because the restaurant is totally worth it. We circled the block a couple times and finally parked across the street a few blocks down on a side street. This place was packed and they don’t offer much parking. Note: If you want to visit Wheat Penny good luck finding a parking spot. Time to get out of the robe and clean up for a night of chance! Less than an hour later we were in the car headed for Dayton. Wheat Penny was definitely a place I wanted to try. The lucky winner, which was suggested by many, was the Wheat Penny! I would have been happy with any but I was overly excited because my sisters and I almost went to Wheat Penny as our pregame destination for the Indigo Girls concert last week but decided on a more familiar eatery instead. I wrote down the ones which were within a 40 minute drive and into the bowl they went. Not to worry because our Facebook tribe had so many great options. The rules of our date state that we have to choose a restaurant we’ve never been to, so that pretty much eliminated all the restaurants in our hometown. I asked for restaurant recommendations and Facebook you all showed up! You guys have some great recommendations! Some we had on our list and many we had never heard of before and will be using for future date nights. I did what all efficient people do and turned to Facebook. What would 007 do? Hack into a highly classified government database where all the restaurants were listed? That seemed like a lot of work and to be honest, at 2:41pm I was still in my robe. I got out my small notebook to begin making a list of restaurants and immediately my mind went blank. This was exactly the kind of birthday- date night we were looking for! The title itself sounded like maybe we’d be reenacting a James Bond movie and although it called for no espionage and zero explosions, it was actually quite the adventure. Using our lucky quarter, we decided to scratch off the Dating Roulette challenge. Today is Dan’s birthday and we decided there’s no better way to celebrate than to take ourselves on a little adventure.
